Look! I can see the end of winter from here! We better hurry up and have a Spin Party before heading to the lake. We are wrapping up our 2014-1015 Spin Party season with a bang featuring more records than ever before, free record drawings and a special guest who will be playing guest DJ and handing out a pair of tickets to the Minnesota Orchestra! It will be a blast so mark your calendars and do not miss this event.
Masterpieces by Duke Ellington. Recorded in 1950 (that’s not a typo), It is both historically important because of its use of magnetic tape and Columbia released the record in the new 33RPM long play (LP) format. Historic facts aside, this is one great record! The sonics are fabulous and the performances outstanding.
Reference Recordings have finally released Mephisto & Company on vinyl! It is an outstanding recording and without a doubt the vinyl will be spectacular! Expect to hear Reference Recordings at its finest.
Bob Dylan doing a Frank Sinatra record? I dismissed it when I first heard about the record. But the reviews started coming in and were very positive. Let’s see if Bob can pull this off. If anyone can do it, it’s Bob Dylan.
Art Blakey’s The Big Beat is a jazz fan favorite. It has an outstanding line up of performers with Art’s drums leading the way. The sound is classic Blue Note and Music Matters always knows how to get the most from those recordings.
Wait! There’s more! There are so many great titles flowing now, we need to include as many as possible! From ORG (always a favorite label) we will feature My One and Only Thrill from Melody Garot. Nominated for three Grammy’s, this record offers outstanding songwriting and is very well recorded and produced.
Let’s talk Music Matters 33RPM Blue Note reissue again for a minute. What a line up we are spinning: Herbie Hancock’s Maiden Voyage, a true classic! GO from Dexter Gordon and Eric Dolphy’s Out To Lunch round out the line up. Wow, what a list of outstanding titles from one label in one month!
To make this event extra special, we will be joined by Luke Manley, president of VTL. Luke will be on hand to talk about VTL, its products and philosphy as well as answer your questions. Our reference system uses the VTL TL7.5 line stage and MB-450 MK III amplifiers and Luke will be bringing the very popular TP6.5 phono stage to take our performance to the next level. We are excited to have Luke and to hear a complete VTL system here at Analog Audio. We are sure you will have a great time with Luke and we bet you learn a thing or two about VTL equipment! To learn more about the VTL event, check out our VTL Open House Announcement.
